We love cleaning in Woolloomooloo
Home to the Finger Wharf, which is one of the longest timber wharves in the world, Woolloomooloo today is home to a myriad variety of restaurants, an eat street in Llankelly Place and is located near theatres like the Hayes Theatre and Old Fitz Theatre in Potts Point. Located near the Kings Cross, known for its bars and restaurants, Woolloomooloo is located right in the centre of the city and is less than two kilometres away from Sydney’s Central Business District. The name Woolloomooloo can be traced to aboriginal roots to the word Wallamulah, which means a ‘young black kangaroo’.
The Domain, located to the west, is a thirty-four-hectare open area. Right adjacent to this is the Royal Botanical Gardens, a thirty-acre open park area that is also home to one of the most visited monuments in the city, the Sydney Opera house. Other places of interest here include the Gunnery and the Andrew Charlton Swimming Pool. The Gunnery, which is today used as an arts and culture centre, was built in the 1900s for the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
It was later acquired by the Navy during World War II to use as a training centre. Originally named the Domain Pool, Andrew Charlton pool got its current name in 1968, in honour of an Australian Olympic swimmer of the same name. Woolloomooloo is probably one of the only places in Sydney providing the mix of proximity to shopping centres and the CBD, richness in history and culture, and great connectivity.
