Eaglemont is an affluent suburb of Melbourne, it is located ten kilometers north-east of Melbourne’s central business district, it is located in the local government area of the City of Banyule. According to the 2016 census, the suburb has a total population of over three thousand residents. The suburb was formerly known as Mount Eagle, Eaglemont is a picturesque enclave located between Ivanhoe East and Heidelberg.

The heritage-laden garden suburb was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, it played home to many famous artists at the Heidelberg School of Art. The suburb is well serviced by public transport, having its own railway station, as well as numerous bus routes and bike paths. The Yarra Plenty Regional Library provides the public library facilities.

In the late 19th century, a syndicate bought and subdivided the ‘Mount Eagle” and “Leighton” properties during the land boom. The area was named Mount Eagle Estate. The “Mount Eagle” property failed to sell and remained vacant until a few years later when it was given to a group of artists. This group became known as the Heidelberg School.

The suburb has great amenities there are first class private schools, the Yarra River, parks and walking trails. The suburb also has a public golf course, the prices of the property in Eaglemont are a bit high and the market properties are notoriously tough to break and few properties up for sale. In general, the suburb is great, the environment is peaceful and quiet and there are good medical facilities.
