Hamilton is a hilly suburb which sits on the north bank of the Brisbane river it is an inner suburb of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. One of the most attractive parts of the suburb is the view of the Brisbane central business district. Most say that the first Hotel in the suburb was built by the father of Messrs. Hamilton, Gustavus Hamilton.

Also, amongst the first lessees of the hotel was a woman called Mrs. Warren who also married a Mr. Hamilton coincidentally, so the hotel housed two families bearing the name Hamilton. Because of this, the Hamilton Hotel was an easy reference for the Hotel, those were in the days when there were very few houses after a while the name was gradually applied to the district. Hamilton is also popular for being the home of many Aristocrats and clergy.

The suburb is popular for being an “old wealth” suburb.
